WV Wholesalers Association Announce Scholarship Recipents for 2015

Charleston, WV (July 27, 2015) – The West Virginia Wholesalers Association (WVWA), the trade association which represents the state’s wholesale distributors, has announced their annual recipients of $1,000 WVWA Scholarships. Those recipients include: Ryan Beveridge of Finleyville, PA; Taylor Brown of Glen Fork, WV; Danielle McCallister of Barboursville, WV; and Derek Pavlic of Wheeling, WV. 

“As an association representing West Virginians, we are extremely pleased to be in a position to help support our members and our members’ employees and their families in furthering their education,” said Jan Vineyard, executive director of the WVWA.  “This year’s recipients are all great students, leaders in their schools and active community volunteers and we wish them the best of luck in their education and future endeavors.”  

Ryan Beveridge is a recent graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and plans to attend Penn State Greater Allegheny College in the fall. While at Thomas Jefferson High School, he was active in the National Honor Society and the French National Honor Society.  Beveridge was also the sports editor for the school newspaper and was assistant captain of the varsity ice hockey team.

Taylor Brown is going into her senior year at Concord University where she is majoring in Elementary Education. Brown stays very active with groups at Concord including Delta Zeta sorority, the Appalachian Leadership Educational Foundation and the United Way. She is also very active in her church, New Life Community Church. 

Danielle McCallister is currently attending Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine where she is seeking a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and will complete her studies in 2018. McCallister plays a very active role in a number of student professional organizations including the American Veterinary Medical Association and the West Virginia Veterinary Medical Association. In addition to her studies, she works part time as a aeterinary assistant at the Tri-State Veterinary Center. 

Derek Pavlic is a recent graduate of Wheeling Park High School and plans to attend West Virginia University in the fall. While at Wheeling Park, Pavlic was a member of the National Honor Society and the school’s string orchestra and jazz band. He also attended the West Virginia Governor’s School for the Arts. 

The WVWA Scholarship is open to any full-time employees or the children of employees of Class A Wholesale Member within the association’s membership who are high school seniors who have been accepted for admission or full-time students at a college or university.

WVWA members represented by this year’s recipients are Goldsmit-Sydnor, Inc., Liberty USA and Team Sledd.
